Cargo Peak | Maximum height of cargo after loading. |

Degree of Saturation (S) | The ratio of water to the total volume of voids in a material. |

Dry Bulk Density (ρ_{d}) |
Dry weight of soil per unit volume of soil (Dry Density). |

Dry Density (ρ_{d}) |
Dry weight of soil per unit volume of soil. |

Gross Water Content (w^{1}) |
The quantity of water contained in a material expressed in terms of wet mass. Can be calculated by volume or by weight. |

Moisture Content (MC) | Same as Water Content. The quantity of water contained in a material. Can be expressed as gravimetric or volumetric water content. |

Net Water Content (w) | The quantity of water contained in a material expressed in terms of dry mass. Can be calculated by volume or by weight. |

Particle Density (ρ_{st}) |
Same as Specific Gravity. Ratio of the density of a material to the density of water. |

Specific Gravity (G_{s}) |
Same as Particle Density. Ratio of the density of a material to the density of water. |
