The International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code (IMSBC Code) categorises solid bulk cargoes into three groups; Group A, Group B and Group C[1]. They are as follows:

See: List of Solid Bulk Cargoes - List of solid bulk cargoes along with their group classifications.

Each solid bulk cargo that is listed in the IMSBC Code has a schedule where the category or group is stated. If a solid bulk cargo is not specifically listed in the code the relevant authority should be contacted in regards to hazards it may pose during transportation. Contact names and addresses of the offices of designated national competent authorities responsible for the safe carriage of grain and solid bulk cargoes can be seen by viewing the List of Relevant Authorities - Contact names and addresses of the offices of designated national competent authorities responsible for the safe carriage of grain and solid bulk cargoes.
